Hello and welcome to the 2024 Fort Logan Ranch bull sale.
We are excited to offer an outstanding set of yearling bulls that have been continually evaluated and selected for disposition, structure, and growth.
This year’s sires include Sitz Dignity 599J. We chose this bull because he checks a lot of boxes for our program. He ranks in the top 1% for $M, Claw, Angle, and PAP. He is also in the top 4% for Heifer Pregnancy, top 2% for Rib Eye Area. All while having a moderate mature height and weight. We feel like he is going to be a great herd improver in many areas.
We also have sons out of his sire, Sitz Resilient 10208. Resilient has been one of the top bulls in the angus breed the last few years, and we have been impressed with his offspring. He has great numbers for feet quality, heifer pregnancy and tremendous growth.
The bulls weaned off extremely well last fall, those weights are their actual weaning weights. The bulls are not creep fed, and summer on large pastures where they cover plenty of country. Once the bulls are weaned we turn them out on irrigated pasture for a month before putting them in their feed pens. We designed the pens so the bulls have to walk 250 yards between the feed bunk and their water source. They usually make this trip 4-5 times per day resulting in about ½-1 mile of walking per day. The bulls are on a ration of chopped hay and straw along with a bull developer pellet from Mountain West Ag. With this ration they are gaining about 2.5-3lbs per day. We feel this is a good amount of growth without making them excessively fat.
The bulls offered in this year’s sale are commercial bulls and will not be registered. All bulls are A.I. sired out of cows that are A.I. sired. We have been A.I. ing our entire herd since the early 1980s and have extensive records and data on all our cows. Only about 20-25% of the male calf crop are kept as sale bulls, and we are constantly taking off the bottom end.
The bulls will have genomic EPDs from Method Genetics. We send Method Genetics pedigree information and performance data where they generate genomic EPDs for the bulls. We feel this provides tremendous functional genetic insight and allows ranchers to select bulls based on their own herd goals.
As we continuously improve and evolve our bull program, we are taking the opportunity to sell our registered bull calves as two-year-olds in the 2025 Stevenson Angus Ranch sale. This sale will be held in March 2025 in White Sulphur Springs. EPDs are available on these bulls, and they can also be previewed April 25th.
Join us for a preview day at the ranch on April 25, beginning around 11am. We will have lunch and drinks all day. The bulls can be toured anytime that day or in the weeks leading up to the sale, for the convenience of customers. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to call or text.
Thank you for your support of our program,
